The project behind this website

RECODRIVE (“Rewarding and Recognition Schemes for Energy Conserving Driving, Vehicle procurement and maintenance”) is a project aiming at merging existing ecodriving initiatives with good fleet management and logistics optimization practice to push fuel saving in fleets beyond 10%. Fleets from partners and associated entities will act as demonstrators and show cases for high mileage and/or high specific consumption fleets. Energy conservation champions will be trained to influence the procurement departments specifying vehicles, monitoring schemes for drivers applying ECODRIVING and workshop employees servicing vehicles (tire pressure, air and fuel filter etc.) will be set up and audited. Interest groups and alliances of fleet owners will disseminate the RECODRIVE concept and invite other fleet owners to hand on workshops and symposia to work on sectoral policies e.g. addressing stakeholders. Policy guidelines will be developed in order to support the fleet owners in setting up recognition and rewarding schemes for drivers and managers, procurement and maintenance staff. A multi-lingual knowledge hub, implemented as an internet-based communication and information platform, tools supporting the training of drivers, the procurement of on-board and fuel management devices, dos and don’ts for the set-up of recognition and rewarding schemes and a support desk to help fleet owners will be implemented in the course of the project.

Work description

RECODRIVE comprises 7 work packages:

WP1 Project management will be responsible for the coordination of the demonstration and dissemination actions, communication and contingency management, quality assurance procedures and the financial administration.

WP2 Framework analysis will prepare the ground for a knowledgeable specification of the measures. In this work package baseline analysis will be conducted in order to investigate best cases and analyse existing campaigns and their effects.

WP3 Materials and set up of the demonstrations will produce audit schemes for energy related processes like procurement, driver training and fuel management, the planning documents for success prone demonstration and last but not least also for the dissemination and the internal marketing

WP4 Demonstrators the measures will be validated in approximately 20 demonstrators with a total of approx. 1,500 high kilometres and high consumption including electric driven vehicles.

WP5 Evaluation and policy formulation will specify and implement the evaluation, which will ensure that performance indicators and fuel savings are met. A formulation of validated concepts for the various fleet types and motivating facts for regional and city administration will be elaborated as result of the cross comparative evaluation.

WP6 Networking and dissemination will ensure targets awareness raising for the project and networking.

WP7 Common dissemination activities will - together with WP6 - provide support for training/assistance and networking amongst captive and other fleet owners, and will also address individuals/citizens by supporting driving schools and internal driver training for vocational drivers and providing their teachers with materials.

The projects networking and dissemination activities offering both specific dissemination approaches and high quality dissemination products reach out for fleets managers as well as drivers. The project demonstrators alone will save 3,500 tons of fuel per year and the project dissemination has planned to save approx. 113,000 tons of fuel per year as target.
